Christmas Website
Humbug is the yearly pop-up Christmas dive bar experience in London. Open only two months of the year, the website is the hub of marketing and excitement designed to draw as many guests as possible over the Christmas period. Designed to be interactive, quirky and exciting.
dESIGN cHALLENGES
kEY eLEMENTS
- A largescale video header - this required some compression and reclipping in order to reduce page-load speed, whilst maintaining a high quality visual impact.
- Interactions on scroll - several animations such as presents and candy canes falling from the top were arranged to follow the user on scroll. The shining light behind the group casting image spins continuously using a small animation and layered stylings in order to create an eye-catching visual without the use of a size-heavy video. Throughout are Lottie style files that make pops of light shine throughout the page, to make even static text look eye-catching.
- Modal pop-up - in order to create a mailing sign-up list, a popover appears on click to take the users details. This is hooked directly to the client's MailChimp and tagged directly.
- Domain connection - connecting the client's domain names so that they direct to the page. The ticketing platform was separate, and required URL masking so the user's URL appeared to be on the same site.
